Handbook of Kanta service

The purpose of the handbook of Kanta service is to provide support and guidance for the use of Kanta services.

The greater part of the handbook content consists of mandatory instructions based on legislation, decrees and orders by the authorities (Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Kela, National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health Valvira, National Institute for Health and Welfare, Population Register Centre). The handbook also includes recommendations and models for the guidance and facilitation of the management and practical execution of the deployment project. It is advisable to read the general instructions and descriptions of the handbooks (e.g. preparation tasks) first as it will make it easier to understand the whole entity and to absorb detailed instructions.

The handbook is published in Finnish and Swedish. Some of the contents are available only in Finnish. The content provider can provide further information about the matter.

The handbook is maintained by the Kanta services and the OPER unit of the National Institute for Health and Welfare. If you notice any shortcomings or needs for updates or if you have any development ideas, please contact us by email at kantapalvelut@thl.fi.
