EU COVID-19 certificates are accessed actively in My Kanta Pages – however, certificate of recovery is not shown to everyone at the moment

Notice Written on 16.7.2021 All notices

Currently, the vaccination certificates and recent test certificates are shown extensively for users of My Kanta Pages. Next week, technical updates will be made in order to display the missing certificates of recovery from various patient data systems.

The EU test certificates and certificates of recovery have been available in My Kanta Pages since 14 July. It has been possible to obtain the EU Digital COVID Certificate from My Kanta Pages already since 22 June.

Majority of Finnish citizens get the vaccination certificate easily from My Kanta Pages

The data concerning COVID-19 vaccination certificates has been entered in My Kanta Pages almost everywhere in Finland.

“More than 93 per cent of those vaccinated are able to get the EU vaccination certificate easily from My Kanta Pages. A few healthcare organisations are still making corrections to the systems, but the general situation is very good,” explains Pirjo Vuorikallas, Lead Product Owner of the Kanta Services.

Regional information about the situation of vaccination data can be checked from the report of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare: Coverage of data required for the vaccination certificate in the My Kanta Pages service (thl.fi)

In addition, individual vaccination certificates may not be available because there is an error or omission in the data recorded in the healthcare service.

“Data on the vaccination certificate is corrected in the healthcare unit where the vaccination was administered,” Vuorikallas points out.

Technical update for the data on certificates of recovery is due next week

Currently, the certificate of recovery is not accessible in My Kanta Pages by some of those who have recovered from COVID-19.

“In Finland there are dozens of patient data systems and hundreds of healthcare organisations where data is entered in different ways. The Kanta system gathers all this data together and creates the certificates automatically. The system is multifaceted, and therefore it also takes time to pinpoint the problems,” Vuorikallas describes.

The Kanta Services will be subject to a technical update at the beginning of week 29, as a result of which some of the missing certificates of recovery will become available from various patient data systems. However, investigation is still ongoing in cooperation with the healthcare service.

If you need the certificate immediately, the healthcare service can provide a printout

Many Finnish people have already viewed their COVID-19 certificates in My Kanta Pages. If your certificate is not found yet, there is no need to be concerned.
“If you don’t need the certificate straight away, it is worth waiting until the situation has been rectified. It is important to avoid overloading the healthcare service if at all possible.

However, if you need the certificate immediately for travel purposes, you must contact the healthcare organisation where you were given the vaccination or had the test.

It has been possible to obtain the EU Digital COVID Certificate in paper format from some healthcare organisations since 15 July. The objective is that this will be possible in all public healthcare services by mid-August. If a healthcare service still cannot print out the EU Digital COVID Certificate, the traveller will be given another certificate that contains the same information.

“Other certificate than the EU COVID-19 certificate with the QR code will be valid for border crossings at least until 12 August. Also after that date, another certificate will be valid for border crossings, but every country specifies their own strict criteria. The EU certificate is not the only possible certificate for travelling, although it makes travel easier," Vuorikallas points out.

Travellers must find out the requirements in the country of destination

Before the journey, travellers must find out which certificate is required for border crossing in the country of destination. In addition, travellers must monitor the COVID-19 situations and guidance in the country of destination and in Finland. Information for travellers in the EU countries has been gathered on the Re-open EU website (reopen.europa.eu).
