Deployment of phases 1 and 1.5 of medication in March 2022

Notice - Developers Written on 28.5.2021 All notices

The deployment of phases 1 and 1.5 of medication in the Prescription Centre and the Pharmaceutical Database will take place on 15 March 2022. In future, the current and the new version of the Pharmaceutical Database will be delivered side by side until the end of 2022.

The deployment includes

  • structured dosage,
  • other changes in the HL7 specification version 4.00,
  • the 2022 version of the Pharmaceutical Database, and
  • the HL7 FHIR interface of the restoration of identification data of a prescription.

With the new HL7 FHIR interface, it is possible to retrieve the identification data of a prescription, where also the structured dosage data is restored. The first version of the interface can be tested in the client test environment as from 14 June 2021. Any observations and comments can be sent to

The test materials for the Pharmaceutical Database were delivered in December 2020 and February 2021. The test materials correspond to the selection of preparations in production. They contain new data contents with the exception of drug administration routes; the February materials include a few preparations that have these. The next test materials will be delivered in October 2021, also including drug administration routes more extensively.

Matters to be taken into account in the deployment and joint testing of version 4.00 of the HL7 specification package

Registrations for joint testing will be accepted as from 1 June 2021

The HL7 specification version 4.00 can be deployed on 15 March 2022 either

  • together with structured dosage, or
  • only with new data contents of non-structured dosage.

If version 4.00 of the HL7 specification service is not deployed in the system by 15 March 2022, it must carry out the testing of forward compatibility with the prescription.

The current and new version of the Pharmaceutical Database will be delivered side by side until 31 December 2022, by which time the HL7 specification version 4.00 must be in use at least in respect of new non-structured dosage data contents.

The pharmacy systems must always support the latest specification version, in which case the entire functionality of the HL7 specification package 4.00 and the new version of the Pharmaceutical Database must be deployed on 15 March 2022.
