The everyday lives of many people will become easier as it is now possible to view the health data of another adult in My Kanta Pages. For this purpose, you need a mandate with Suomi.fi e-authorisation. It is also possible to use the same mandate for a number of other online healthcare channels.

In Finland, everyone is an organ donor unless they have separately opted out. However, efforts are made to find out the wishes of the donor where possible. One can record the decision to donate in My Kanta Pages.

First parents or guardians can now also view the data of minors over 10 years of age in My Kanta Pages
The new feature will become available as and when the healthcare organisations deploy the changes in their own patient data systems. The necessary changes have already been made in the Kanta Services, enabling the viewing of data concerning all minors by their parents or guardians in My Kanta Pages.

You can now obtain medicines in Portugal on a Finnish electronic prescription – medicines are available in Finland on Portuguese and Croatian prescriptions
Medicines are gradually becoming available on Finnish electronic prescriptions in other European countries and, similarly, in Finland on prescriptions from other countries. In Portugal, you can obtain medicines on a Finnish prescription initially from one pharmacy, with the service set to be extended to other pharmacies later.

The joint testing of the functionality to act on behalf of a minor can continue
In July 2020, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health decided that the data systems will not include default settings based on age for recording estimated capacity for self-determination. The joint testing test cases have now been updated to conform to the new policy.

The Client Data Act for social welfare and healthcare services will be reformed in spring 2021. The Ministry is advising social welfare and healthcare organisations and information system suppliers to prepare themselves for rapid implementation of the Act. In the first stage, the preparations will apply to changes in data sharing.

Estonia is the first country whose citizens can purchase medicines in Finland with an electronic prescription issued in their own country. Gradually this will also be possible in several other European countries.
