Patient data may also be formed in the social welfare services. Social welfare services where patient data is normally created include
- child guidance and family counselling
- part of the services for substance abusers
- institutional care in a residential home for the elderly
- some of the social welfare of people with intellectual disabilities.
Social welfare services are implemented on the basis of the legislation on social welfare, and therefore the patient data created in them is part of the social welfare services register, not the healthcare register. Patient data created on the social welfare side forms its own sub-register in the social welfare services register.
Although patient data created in social welfare services is part of the social welfare services register, the data is not, however, entered in the Client Data Archive for Social Welfare Services. For the time being, it is also not possible to enter the data in the Patient Data Repository. The current legislation does not enable entering patient data in social welfare services in either of the Kanta services.
The objective is that patient data created in social welfare services can be entered in the Patient Data Repository in the future.
