The update of the MyKanta online service is progressing – start to use the new version

Notice Written on 18.8.2026
The MyKanta online service used monthly by over a million people is being updated. The aim is to make MyKanta easier to use for managing one’s social welfare and healthcare matters. The new version of the online service now includes a majority of the most frequently used functionalities of the service.

In MyKanta, everyone can see a summary of their social welfare and healthcare information from wellbeing services counties, occupational healthcare, student healthcare and private actors. For example, in the new version of MyKanta, users can now view prescriptions and request their renewal, read entries recorded by doctors, check laboratory results, act on behalf of a loved one, and view information recorded in social services.

Some functions, such as the renewing and viewing of prescriptions, will only be available in the new version of MyKanta. The service has clear and easy transitions to the new version of MyKanta from the front page and from the different functions.

The new MyKanta is easier to use and more accessible

The focus of the reform of Finland’s most widely used social welfare and healthcare digital service has been on making the service as smooth and easy to use as possible in different life situations.

“We have listened carefully to the wishes of the users of MyKanta. The visual design of the service has been made more accessible, information is easier to find, and the language is clearer and easier to understand,” says Minna Puolanmaa, a development specialist at Kela’s Kanta Services.

Accessibility has also been enhanced by improving the way the service works with screen readers, for example. Accessibility improvements make the service easier to use for persons with visual impairments and other users needing special support.

Start to use the new MyKanta

The new and old versions of MyKanta will still continue to operate side by side during the transition phase. New functionalities will be gradually added to the new MyKanta service, and it will eventually replace the old version of the service completely. The old MyKanta will be discontinued in spring 2027 at the latest.

“We encourage all users of MyKanta to use the new version of MyKanta from now on. It enables users to take advantage of the improved functionalities and enjoy smoother use of the service,” says Puolanmaa.

You can log in to the new MyKanta as usual at kanta.fi. The new version of the service can be selected directly from the MyKanta homepage.
