Users of MyKanta satisfied with the service – the new application has been received well
This was already the third time that Kela and Aalto University implemented the survey together. The user experience of MyKanta received good ratings again. The users of MyKanta are satisfied with the fact that social welfare and healthcare data can be easily viewed all in one place.

“In MyKanta, we can all see a summary of our data from wellbeing services counties, occupational healthcare, student healthcare, and private social welfare and healthcare services,” says Mari Holmroos, Business Specialist at Kela’s Kanta Services.
According to Holmroos, the survey provides valuable information for the development of MyKanta.
Quick login is a strength of the MyKanta application
The MyKanta application downloadable on phones was published in August 2025 and was also rated in the survey for the first time. According to the results, the application responds to users’ previous wishes for easier and smoother use of services.
Users praised the application especially for its safe and fast login, which they found made everyday life significantly easier.
The application includes some of the most common MyKanta functions, such as renewing prescriptions, viewing entries made by a doctor and examining laboratory results. In addition, it is possible to order notifications of, for example, renewed prescriptions, new laboratory results and entries made by a doctor from the application. The application also reminds different age groups of booster vaccines.
The application has more than 220,000 users, and it can be downloaded free of charge from the app store.
Users would like to add acting on behalf of a loved one to the MyKanta application
Some of the respondents hoped to see more of the useful functions of OmaKanta in the application. In particular, the respondents hoped that acting on behalf of a child or an adult loved one will be made possible in the application. This same wish has come up in customer feedback since the application was published.
“MyKanta is used to act on behalf of another person 4.2 million times every year. Fifteen per cent of the respondents said they had used MyKanta on behalf of persons such as their spouse, elderly parents or children,” says Holmroos.
A majority of the respondents felt that acting on behalf of another person made it easier to manage the person’s affairs.
MyKanta ensures smooth digital services everywhere in Finland
The user survey shows that MyKanta has developed in the right direction. The System Usability Scale, an internationally used indicator for assessing user experience, gave MyKanta an overall score of 72.7 in the survey. The result indicates that MyKanta meets many of the users’ needs, although there is also room for improvement.
User feedback helps to identify key development areas and contributes to the further development of MyKanta.
“Every month, more than 1.2 million people use MyKanta. It is important to continue to develop the online service and the application and listen to users’ wishes. This way we can ensure smooth digital services in social welfare and healthcare everywhere in Finland,” Holmroos says.
