Functions of the MyKanta application
In the MyKanta application, you can view your prescription data wherever and whenever you like. More functions will be added to the application in stages.
In the MyKanta application, you can:
- view and renew your prescriptions
- subscribe to notifications concerning new and renewed prescriptions
- log in easily and securely with a PIN code of your choice or by using fingerprint or facial recognition.
The MyKanta application will also include functions that will allow you to
- view entries recorded by doctors and nurses
- view laboratory test results
- subscribe to notifications concerning new laboratory test requests and results
- subscribe to notifications concerning new entries recorded by doctors and nurses.
You can already use all the functions of MyKanta in the MyKanta online service, which you can log in to at www.kanta.fi.
How to use the MyKanta application
Download the MyKanta mobile application free of charge on your phone or tablet from an app store. Open the App Store or Play Store on your device. You can search for the application using the search term MyKanta.
The first time you log in, you will need to authenticate yourself with your online banking codes or a mobile certificate. In future, you will be able to log in to the application as follows:
- Open the MyKanta application on your phone or tablet.
- Authenticate yourself in the application using fingerprint or facial recognition, or the PIN code you have selected.
For security reasons, you must authenticate yourself in the application using your online banking codes or mobile certificate once a year.
We welcome feedback from users of the MyKanta application. Your feedback and suggestions play an important role in the development of the application. Your feedback and suggestions can influence what functions will be added to the application next.

Frequently asked questions about the MyKanta application
The application can be used on mobile devices such as phones and tablets. The MyKanta application works on devices with an iOS or Android operating system (iOS 16.0 or later, Android 10.0 or later).
The MyKanta application sends notifications to help you stay up to date with important events, such as a new prescription. You can enable notifications the first time you use the application. You will be asked “Do you want to enable notifications?”. If you want to enable notifications, select “allow notifications”. If you do not want to be notified of e.g., a new prescription, press “skip”. You can also edit your notification settings later on in the MyKanta application or in your device settings.
The MyKanta application is available in Finnish and Swedish. The application will use the same language setting as your device. If your device is set to a language other than Finnish or Swedish, the MyKanta application will use Finnish. You can change the application language in the application settings.
The first time you log in, you will be redirected to Suomi.fi identification. If authentication fails, there may be a problem with the method of authentication. Try another authentication method, if possible. For example, if you also have a mobile certificate or online banking codes with another bank, try logging in using those.
From time to time, there may be problems with different banks’ authentication. Information on disruption and the estimated duration of the disruption is available on the banks’ websites. If you are having issues with your online banking codes, you can contact your bank.
If you are already authenticated in the application using your online banking codes, for example, and you are trying to log in with a PIN code, check that
- your PIN is correct
- you have updated the MyKanta application and are running the latest version. Update the application in your phone’s app store.
There may be also be maintenance breaks in MyKanta, during which time the service will not be available. Please check the maintenance notices and try using the service again a little later.
If necessary, please contact our customer service.
If you can’t remember your PIN code, select “Forget your PIN? ” on the login page. You will then need to re-authenticate yourself to the application using your online banking codes or a mobile certificate. You can then choose a new PIN code.
If you have lost your device, do the following:
- Download the MyKanta application on another phone or tablet.
- Identify yourself using your online banking codes or a mobile certificate.
- Choose a new PIN code.
- Go to the MyKanta application settings.
- Select “Device Management”. Select the lost device from the list and delete it.
If necessary, you can call our customer service and ask us to log you out of your lost device. When you reactivate the MyKanta application, you will need to re-authenticate yourself.
The PIN code for the MyKanta application is personal. If you suspect that your PIN code has fallen into the wrong hands, change it immediately. You can change your PIN in the application settings.
The MyKanta application is secure. The first time you authenticate yourself to the application, you use your online banking codes or mobile certificate, and you will need to renew your authentication every year. You will also need to create your own personal PIN code for the application. Make sure that noone else knows your PIN code except you.
When you download the application from an app store, make sure that the application is called MyKanta and that it is created by Kansaneläkelaitos (Android) or Kansanelakelaitos (Apple). Also make sure that you are running the latest version of the application. Sometimes you may need to update the application in order to continue using it.
The application has been audited according to Class A criteria, which means that the application has a very high level of security. Data security certification and an audit have been performed by an accredited information security inspection body.
The application is being developed in stages, so it does not yet have all the same functions as the MyKanta online service. If the application does not have the function you are looking for, you can access the MyKanta online service by logging in at www.kanta.fi.
You can stop using the MyKanta application at any time. If you want to stop using the application, do the following:
- Go to the MyKanta application settings.
- Select “Device Management”.
- From the list, select the devices on which you no longer want to use the MyKanta application. Remove the devices.
- If you want to stop using the MyKanta application completely, remove all the devices on the list. Once all devices have been deleted from device management, your user information will be deleted automatically.
If necessary, you can call our customer service and ask us to log you out of your device. If you reactivate the MyKanta application, you will need to re-authenticate yourself in the application.
