Social welfare and healthcare professionals can see the information recorded about you in the information systems they use. The professionals can also use the Kanta Services to retrieve information that has been recorded about you in other social welfare or healthcare organisations, such as in another wellbeing services county or a private clinic. Professionals can see this information if you have given your consent.
Consent to data sharing is given separately for healthcare patient data and social services client data. In order to guarantee high-quality services and smooth management of your affairs, it is important that your data is visible to the professionals treating you and managing your affairs.
How to give consent and set up denials of consent in MyKanta
- Log in to MyKanta at kanta.fi. Identify yourself using your online banking codes or a mobile certificate.
- Select the Management of Data Use section.
- In this section, you can see when you have last received Kanta information, i.e., a notification about the use of your data in social welfare and healthcare services, and what consents and denials of consent you have in place.
- Give the consents or set up the denials of consent according to your preferences. You can also update your valid consent to data sharing.
- Some of the denials of consent can only be set up in the new version of MyKanta. Follow the instructions displayed in MyKanta.
If you have not received the latest information about Kanta Services, i.e., a notification about how your data will be used in social welfare and healthcare services, you will receive a notification to confirm receipt when you log in to MyKanta. Read and acknowledge the notification. You can then move on to issuing consents and setting up denials of consent.

You can also receive information about Kanta Services and give consent to share your data and set up denials of consent to share your data when visiting social welfare and healthcare services. You can also withdraw your consent and denials of consent during your visit.
Social welfare services will only be able to record your consent and denial of consent at your request once the necessary changes have been made to the information systems. If the changes have not been made, social welfare professionals will not be able to access your data in the Kanta Services if the data has been recorded elsewhere.
You can issue consent and deny consent on behalf of your child or a loved one
You can issue consent and denial of consent on behalf of your child. You can also act on behalf of another adult with a Suomi.fi e-Authorization. Acting on behalf of someone else is possible either in MyKanta or when visiting a social welfare and healthcare professional, depending on whose behalf you are acting.
