Operating models and data-entry practices

Social welfare and healthcare professionals who use the Kanta Services must be familiar with the common operating models and the basics of structured data entry. Learn about the operating models in Kanta’s online school.

When a social welfare and healthcare operator starts using the Kanta Services, its staff will commit to working in accordance with nationally harmonised practices. These are called operating models in healthcare and operating practices in social welfare.

Operating models and operating practices include

  • uniform data-entry practices
  • principles governing the use and sharing of data
  • ensuring the functionality of the Kanta Services in the event of changes.

Operating models and data-entry guidelines to support day-to-day work

The aim of the operating models is to ensure that client data is processed correctly and securely in social welfare and healthcare services.

By using uniform data structures to record data, professionals will be able to access them from the Kanta Services using different information systems. The information is also visible to clients in MyKanta.

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) is responsible for national operating models and guidance on structured data entry in social welfare and healthcare. Read the documents and the instructions on structured data entry on the THL website.
