Update request for system suppliers: new codes for coronavirus
Recording of coronavirus infections requires up-to-date code sets in the patient data systems. Kela is requesting the system suppliers to update the latest changes as soon as possible.
The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has updated, e.g. the codes for recording coronavirus diagnoses. Codes for confirmed and suspected diagnoses as well as emergency codes for epidemiological use have been added to the ICD 10 classification of diseases.
Due to the monitoring of the coronavirus epidemic, it is important to utilise up-to-date classifications. The reliability of monitoring data requires that the data is recorded in a uniform way.
Guidance for code set updates was also provided in the supplier cooperation meeting on 1 April 2020.
