View presentations of events and training organised by the Kanta Services.

We offer training for social welfare, health care and pharmacy professionals concerning the Kanta Services and their use. We also organise network meetings and workshops where health and social services operators and information system providers can participate in the development of the Kanta Services.

You can search for events and training and browse materials using the events calendar (in Finnish and Swedish).

Kanta online schools provide social welfare, health care, and pharmacy professionals and students with information about the Kanta Services and new functionalities. Kanta online schools are available in Finnish and Swedish.

You can complete Kanta online school training courses in an online learning environment implemented on the Moodle platform. You will need to register to access the learning environment. In the learning environment, you can study different Kanta Service modules flexibly and at your own pace.

The training courses can be used as part of organisations’ induction programmes or in the curricula of educational institutions. A separate certificate is issued for completion of the Kanta online school modules.

Subject to certain conditions, the content and materials of the Kanta online schools may also be uploaded to the online school platform used by the organisation. For more information, please email us at kanta@kanta.fi.

Kanta online school modules that can be completed

At the moment, the following Kanta online school modules can be completed in the learning environment:

  • Data sharing practices of social welfare and health care data
  • Acting on behalf of a minor – operating models based on decision-making capacity
  • Operating practices for the Client Data Archive for the Social Welfare Services
  • Operating models for the electronic prescription
  • Operating models for the Patient Data Repository
  • Operating models for the authorisation for an outsourcing service

Information sessions provide information about Kanta Services to be introduced, development priorities and any relevant changes. Kanta information sessions are aimed at social welfare and health care operators, but anyone interested in the Kanta Services is welcome to attend the events.

Kanta information sessions are held four times a year and they are recorded. The recording and materials will be published on the kanta.fi website after the events.

Health care and social welfare service providers and pharmacies are supported in the deployment process by training recordings and preparatory meetings regarding

  • the Patient Data Repository
  • the Client Data Archive for Social Welfare Services
  • the Prescription service.

Deployment training recordings

If you are planning to deploy the Kanta Services, you should first view the series of recordings for organisations on preparing for deployment of the Kanta Services.

Preparatory meetings

Preparatory meetings for service deployment are regularly arranged events where you are welcome to ask any deployment-related questions you may have.

Preparatory meetings are arranged for

  • health care providers
  • private social welfare operators
  • public social welfare operators.

The aim of the training is to provide professionals in social welfare, health care and pharmacies with information about the Kanta Services and harmonised national operating models. Training is organised on topics such as new functionalities.

You can participate in training remotely via Teams and most of the training sessions are also recorded. The recording and materials will be published on the kanta.fi website after the events. Some of the training sessions are only provided as recordings.

The Kanta forums are networks established for social welfare and health care professionals. The forums include discussions on current issues related to the deployment and use of the Kanta Services. By participating, you can influence the development of services and discuss the Kanta Services with other operators.

The Kanta Archivists’ forum is a network that brings together Kanta archivists in the social welfare and health care organisations. The forum shares topical information and strengthens the role of Kanta archivists in health and social services organisations.

Network meetings organised for information system providers focus on the development of the Kanta Services.

System provider collaboration meeting

A collaboration meeting for system providers is a joint meeting for providers of patient data, client data and pharmacy systems. The aim of the meetings is to provide information related to the development of the Kanta Services and their functionalities.

Social welfare information sessions for information system providers

The social welfare information sessions for information system providers deal with specifications, system development and topical issues related to joining the Client Data Archive for Social Welfare Services.

Collaboration forum for oral health care

The collaboration forum for oral health care provides information for the needs of oral health care in terms of uniform data entry practices for recording data, other operating models and specified data structures.

Support for Kanta PHR

The meetings of the Kanta PHR support project share information on development work and provide advice and guidance on the use of the FHIR standard and the national data content, and approve proposals for changes to the data content.

The development workshops are aimed at social welfare and health care professionals, system providers and the sector’s interest groups. Various workshops will focus on new services and functionalities under development in a practical way.

Currently, workshops are held regularly on the development of the Kanta medication list.

Workshops can also be held on other current topics.

The Kanta panel for organisations is a development and advocacy group. The panel consists of representatives of various NGOs and it participates in the development of the Kanta Services. The organisations on the panel work to highlight the needs and perspectives of their members.
