Statistics

We monitor and compile statistics on how Kanta Services are used and on the quantity of data stored in the services. The data are collected from Kanta log data and registers. Detailed Kanta statistics can be found in Kela’s Info Tray.

The Kanta Services are used comprehensively by both public and private social welfare and health care providers. Kanta combines patient and client data from health care and social welfare into an aggregate form. In total, more than two million new documents are stored in the Kanta Services every day.

We compile statistics on these data for publication in Kela’s Info Tray, where you can find information on things like the quantity of patient and client data stored in Kanta and on how the services are used in social welfare and health care.

In public healthcare, the Patient Data Repository is used by all operators. Two-thirds of private healthcare providers use the Patient Data Repository. The implementation of the Client Data Archive for Social Welfare Services is currently progressing in stages in both public and private social welfare services. Social welfare data has been stored in Kanta since 2018.

MyKanta has been in use since 2010. All Finns can access their data around the clock using MyKanta. Information on citizens’ electronic prescriptions was the first information to be displayed in MyKanta. The service now allows users to e.g., read their treatment-related records and request prescription renewals, and users will gradually also be able to view social welfare information.

The majority of Finns use MyKanta.  In 2023, MyKanta was used by 3.1 million people a total of 35 million times.
