Assignors can now authorise trusted persons to use digital services on their behalf even if the assignor does not have online banking codes

Notice - Developers Written on 25.10.2022 All notices

With the help of Suomi.fi e-Authorizations, you can give a trusted person permission to act on your behalf in MyKanta. Previously, Suomi.fi e-Authorizations required the assignor to identify themselves using online banking codes, for example. The service is now also available to those who are not able to use electronic services themselves.

You can act on behalf of another adult in MyKanta with the Suomi.fi Managing matters related to healthcare mandate. For example, you can send a prescription renewal request on behalf of someone else, or view their results of laboratory tests and information about healthcare appointments. This makes everyday life easier for many elderly people and their loved ones, for example.

Suomi.fi e-Authorizations can be assigned by a person of legal age with full legal capacity. This new feature does not apply to people acting on behalf of persons under guardianship. In the future, the Digital and Population Data Services Agency will develop legal guardians’ access to electronic services as a separate project.

The easiest way to grant mandates is with an authorization request sent by the assignee

If the assignor is unable to identify themselves electronically, the fastest and easiest way to grant mandates is for the assignee to send an authorization request through the Suomi.fi service. When sending an authorization request, the assignee will need the assignor’s full name and personal identity code, as well as a list of services and matters that they will manage on behalf of the assignor. The authorization required for using MyKanta is the Managing matters related to healthcare mandate

The assignor approves the authorizations indicated in the in the authorization request by visiting one of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency’s service points. If you book an appointment in the Suomi.fi e-Authorizations for organisations and citizens service, you can avoid queuing and ensure that you receive personal service. Assistance with making an appointment and granting Suomi.fi e-Authorizations is also available through Public Service Info, tel. +358 (0)295 000.

The authorization request can also be used if the assignor is able to identify themselves electronically, whereupon the authorization request can be confirmed independently in the Suomi.fi online service.

Mandates can also be granted with an authorization application

The assignor can also submit an authorization application either by themselves or with the assistance of a carer in the Suomi.fi online service. This is necessary, for example, if the assignor is unable to visit a service point in person to identify themselves. On the application, the official name(s) and personal identity code(s) of the assignee(s) must be provided together with a list of services and matters in which they shall be authorised to act on behalf of the assignor. Instructions for submitting an authorization application can be found in the Suomi.fi online service.

If you are unable to submit the application yourself or with the help of an assistant, you can book an appointment at a Digital and Population Data Services Agency's service point to get help with your application.

Authorization applications are processed by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. Information about the registration of authorizations is sent to the assignor by mail.

Suomi.fi e-Authorizations can be used in many services

Suomi.fi e-Authorizations are an electronic power of attorney. They are an electronic power of attorney by which the assignor and the assignee jointly agree on which services and what matters the assignee may handle on behalf of the assignor.

The authorization required for using MyKanta is the Managing matters related to healthcare mandate. The same authorization entitles the assignee to view, report and receive information related to the assignor's state of health and to book appointments through certain other healthcare services.

Suomi.fi e-Authorizations are a secure and national solution for acting on behalf of another person online.

Suomi.fi e-Authorizations can be used to manage matters in all services that use Suomi.fi e-Authorizations to verify the right to make transactions. Some of the more important services include Kela's My Kanta, Finnish Tax Administration services, pharmacies and numerous municipal services. Suomi.fi e-Authorizations are developed and maintained by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
