How to deploy the Imaging Data Repository

Read more information and the instructions for deployment:

Send a notification by email to kanta@kanta.fi.

In your message, explain  

• what imaging systems your organisation uses  
• what the target timetable for deployment is  
• whether your organisation will deploy the storage of the images, their retrieval from Kanta, or both functions 
• what imaging material your organisation intends to store in Kanta (e.g., radiological images or ECG tests). 

If necessary, arrange an initial meeting with Kela. During the meeting, representatives from your organisation and your information system suppliers will go through the deployment process together with an expert from Kela.

Your information system provider will provide support and advice on the deployment of the Kanta Service, especially for system-related issues, but some system providers offer support for their customers throughout the deployment process. The system provider will arrange user training for the system and is often responsible for many technical measures, related to deployment.

Kela maintains instructions for deployment of the Kanta Services and responds to deployment-related questions. Together with THL, Kela also provides training in the Kanta Services’ operating models and procedures.

THL is responsible for establishing policies and procedures that govern the use of the Kanta Services. THL also provides guidelines for consistent recording practices and self-monitoring in social welfare and health care services, e.g. the preparing of an information security plan.

In the online schools of the Kanta Services, the personnel can study the operating models flexibly at their own pace. Online school is free and you will receive a certificate for completing training sessions.

Use the ‘Technical specifications’ form to submit information on which technical access point(s) you will be using to access the service. Please submit the technical specifications no later than one month before the deployment test.

If you are setting up a new access point, submit a notification of changes to access point data to Kela. You must submit this notification no later than two months before the deployment test so that the access point can be set up. The notification of changes must be submitted by whoever controls the access point.

 If you are expanding the use of the service, for example, to new data content and changes are made to the imaging systems in connection with the deployment, fill in a notification of changes in technical data.

In this application: 

• provide the administrative details required for using the service
• provide the details of the viewer system and the viewer access point
• specify your contact person(s)
• accept the service description of the Imaging Data Archive.

Once your application to register as a user of the service has been approved, you will be notified by e-mail. We will send this notification to the primary contact person of your organisation as listed on the Extranet.
