Interruptions in the services in May
Planned update and maintenance tasks that may result in interruptions to the use of the services during the month are published here. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
1 May: Extensive interruption in the Kanta Services on
Time: 1 May at 10pm and 12 midnight
We are carrying out maintenance work in the Kanta Services, as a result of which there will be an interruption in the following services:
- Patient Data Repository
- Patient Data Management Service
- My Kanta Pages: health data will not be available
- Delivery of e-prescriptions between different EU countries
- Archive of Imaging Data
We request the social welfare and healthcare organisations and pharmacies to prepare for the service interruption.
Please try to access the service again after the interruption, if necessary.
5 May: Interruption in the Kanta Services
Time: 5 May 2021 between 7.00 pm and 7.15 pm
Due to maintenance work carried out in Valvira, there will be an interruption in the following services:
- Kelain service
- Valvira role and attribute service
The interruption to the service may have an impact on issuing prescriptions in the patient data system if the person issuing the prescription is subject to restrictions with regard to their professional practice rights.
Please try to access the service again in a while.
11 May: Short interruptions in the Kanta Services possible
Time: 11 May 2021 between 11pm and 6am
Kanta-service is undergoing technical maintenance work, due to which there may be interruptions in the use of the services.

15 May: Short interruptions in the Kanta Services possible
Time: 15 May 2021 between 8am and 4pm
Due to maintenance work carried out in the Valtori VY network, there may be short interruptions in the following services:
- Kelain service
- Delivery of electronic prescriptions between different EU countries
- Valvira role and attribute service
The interruptions to the service may have an impact on issuing prescriptions in the patient data system if the person issuing the prescription is subject to restrictions with regard to their professional practice rights.
In the event of a service interruption, please try to access the service again in a moment.
20 May: Short interruption in the use of Kanta Services possible
Time: 20 May 2021 between 6am and 7am
Kanta Service is undergoing technical maintenance work, due to which there may be short interruptions in the use of the services:
- Acting on behalf of someone else in my Kanta pages
- Delivery of Medical Certificates
- Kanta Extranet

24 May: Interruption in the Kanta Services
Time: 24 May 2021 between 7.00 pm and 7.15 pm
Due to maintenance work carried out in Valvira, there will be an interruption in the following services:
- Kelain service
- Valvira role and attribute service
The interruption to the service may have an impact on issuing prescriptions in the patient data system if the person issuing the prescription is subject to restrictions with regard to their professional practice rights.

25 May: Potential interruptions in the Kanta Services
Time: 25 May 2021 at 6.45 am–7.15 am
Maintenance work is carried out in the Kanta Services, which may result in brief interruptions in the following services:
- Kanta Ekstranet
- Kanta.fi
During the interruptions, the traffic of Kanta.fi and Kanta Ekstranet will be redirected to a temporary page.
During the breaks, My Kanta Pages can be accessed via the following direct link: https://kansalainen.kanta.fi/?lg=fi
In addition, the interruption will have no impact on the use of Kelain. Kelain can be accessed via the following direct link: http://www.kelain.fi/

26 May: Archive of Imaging Data temporarily unavailable on 26 May 2021
System upgrades will be taking place in the Archive of Imaging Data between 18:00 and midnight on 26 May 2021. This will cause an interruption in the archival and retrieval functionality for diagnostic tests in the Archive of Imaging Data.
Pharmacies and social welfare and healthcare organisations are requested to make the necessary preparations in advance of the interruption.
After the interruption, try accessing the service again as appropriate.
29 May: Interruption in the transmission of medical certificates and statements to Kela
Date and time: 29 May 2021, 06:00 - 20:00
Due to scheduled system deployment at Kela, no electronic medical certificates or statements can be transmitted to Kela.
During the interruption, medical certificates and statements cannot be transmitted from healthcare providers to Kela Benefit Services. Doctors should instead follow the standard instructions and print out any medical certificate they issue on paper, sign it manually, and hand it over to the patient.
