Get the COVID-19 passport in advance from My Kanta Pages – the same passport can be used during the whole period of its validity
It is worth saving the EU Digital COVID Certificate, which acts as a COVID-19 passport in Finland, to your phone from My Kanta Pages or printing it on paper already in advance. Once you have saved or printed it, the certificate can be used again for as long as the certificate is valid.
The use of the EU Digital COVID Certificate is easier when you save it to your phone in advance or print it and take it with you. It is also possible to take a screen capture of the certificate.
In practice, the EU Digital COVID Certificate, which can be obtained from the My Kanta Pages web service, can be three different certificates. These are the COVID-19 vaccination certificate, the test certificate and the certificate of recovery. Any one of these three can be used as a COVID-19 passport.
The COVID certificate can be obtained from My Kanta Pages at www.kanta.fi. Persons who are not using My Kanta Pages can ask for a COVID certificate acting as a COVID-19 passport from the healthcare service.
Varying periods of using different certificates as a COVID-19 passport
The EU COVID certificates act as a COVID-19 passport in Finland when the certificates are valid and the other terms are met.
The EU vaccination certificate acts as a COVID-19 passport when the person has been fully vaccinated, which means two vaccinations with respect to the vaccines currently in use in Finland. In addition, at least 7 days must have passed since the latest vaccination. After the third vaccination, the certificate is valid immediately from the vaccination date.
The EU vaccination certificate retrieved from My Kanta Pages is technically valid for one year, after which it must be retrieved again from My Kanta Pages. A vaccination certificate received from the healthcare service is also valid for one year. One year is calculated from the day when you retrieved the certificate from My Kanta Pages or received the printout from the healthcare service.
According to the recommendation, the certificate of recovery is valid between 11 and 180 days after a positive COVID-19 test result.
The test certificate can be used as a COVID-19 passport for 72 hours after the test was taken.
Get the COVID certificate in advance from My Kanta Pages
The COVID-19 passport is used in Finland as an alternative to COVID restrictions. Organisers subject to restrictions can request their customers to show a COVID-19 passport upon entry. The customer may also be required to show proof of their identity at the same time.
Currently, a COVID-19 passport may be requested in restaurants and night clubs in areas with COVID restrictions in force. Service providers will inform their customers if a COVID-19 passport is required, for example, for entry to a restaurant. Further information is available from individual service providers or their websites.
It is worth retrieving the COVID certificate in advance from My Kanta Pages. Accessing the service requires e-identification. For security reasons, it is advisable to log in to the service at a place where others cannot see the data.
Login may be temporarily unavailable if there are disturbances in the mobile network or due to maintenance tasks or disruptions with different service providers.
The COVID certificate must be stored with care in the same way as other documents containing personal data, and the QR code on the certificate must not be shared on social media.
